Atari: Game Over

Now on Netflix!

A documentary putting a 30-year pop culture legend to rest.

In 1983, Atari allegedly buried millions of unsold game copies of E.T.: The Extraterrestial for the 2600. Thirty years later, Fuel Entertainment found out if they’re really there, and documented their journey.

Fuel partnered with XBox Entertainment Studios to create a documentary film surrounding the myths, facts and exploration of this legend. At SXSW 2014, we hosted a session to discuss the process, challenges and stories around planning and executing the first archaeological expedition of the gaming era.

On April 26th, 2014, hundreds of gamers and media came out to Alamogordo, New Mexico, and found out the truth behind the legend, as the cartridges were successfully unearthed.

And, at last – we can now enjoy the final product for viewing on Xbox Live, Vimeo on Demand, and also availableĀ It will also be available on Amazon Instant Video, Wuaki, and Blinkbox in the UK, as well as Fetch in Australia and Japan.
